About the Author
HENRY C. LEE
Dr. Henry C. Lee was born in China and graduated from the Central Police College in Taiwan with a major in police science. After working in Taiwan for several years as a police captain, he came to the United States. In 1972, he earned his BSc degree in forensic science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. He went on to study science and biochemistry at New York University where he earned his MSc and PhD degrees. He holds several honorary doctoral degrees.
Dr. Lee worked at New York University Medical Center from 1966 to 1975. In 1975 he joined the faculty at the University of New Haven where he created the school's forensic science department. Dr. Lee has served as Commissioner for the Department of Public Safety, Chief Criminalist, and Director of the Connecticut State Police Forensic Science Laboratory in Meriden, Connecticut. Currently, he is Chief Emeritus for the Connecticut Division of Scientific Services. He is also a professor at the University of New Haven and a distinguished adjunct professor at eight other universities.
Dr. Lee is the recipient of many awards including the Distinguished Service Award from Taipei Taiwan Police Headquarters, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences Criminalist Sections Distinguished Criminalist Award, and the J. Donero Award from the International Association of Identification. He has received several hundred other commendations and awards. In 1992 he was elected a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Dr. Lee is an editor for seven academic journals, has authored or co-authored 30 books, major chapters and reports, and has published approximately 400 articles in professional journals. He has served on national and international committees in forensic science, criminal justice, education and training, and has conducted over 800 workshops and seminars.
Dr. Lee has assisted law enforcement agencies and investigated over 7000 major cases around the world. He has testified over one thousand times in both criminal and civil cases and served as a consultant for over 900 agencies.

TIMOTHY M. PALMBACH
Timothy M. Palmbach earned a Juris Doctorate at the University of Connecticut School of Law and a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven, with a concentration in criminalistics. In 1982 Mr. Palmbach became a member of the Connecticut State Police where he currently holds the rank of Major and serves as the Commanding Officer for the Division of Scientific Services. Previous assignments include Chief of Staff for the Department of Public Safety, Assistant Director at the Forensic Science Laboratory, and Supervisor for the Major Crime Unit.
Mr. Palmbach has testified as an expert witness on numerous cases, including the areas of crime scene processing and analysis and blood spatter pattern interpretation. He has worked with Dr. Lee and other experts on crime scene reconstruction of several high profile investigations.
Mr. Palmbach is a Practitioner in Residence at University of New Haven, Department of Forensic Sciences. He is also an adjunct professor and guest lecturer at several other universities and a certified law enforcement instructor and staff lecturer for the Institute of Forensic Science in West Haven, Connecticut. He has conducted training and provided consultation all across the United States and in several Asian countries.
Mr. Palmbach is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the U.S. District Court of Connecticut Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the International Association of Blood Spatter Analysts, and has been certified as a Senior Crime Scene Analyst by the International Association of Identification.

MARILYN T. MILLER
Marilyn T. Miller is a graduate of Florida Southern College with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. She earned a Master's degree in Forensic Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. In May 2002 she will receive an EdD from Johnson & Wales University in Post-Secondary Educational Leadership. She is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator for the Undergraduate Forensic Science program at the University of New Haven, Connecticut.
Marilyn is a member of the Criminalistics section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the Southern Association of Forensic Scientists, and the American Chemical Society. She teaches a wide variety of forensic science and crime scene investigation classes, and is a faculty member of the Henry Lee Institute of Forensic Science. She has presented hundreds of forensic seminars across the United States and participated in numerous crime scene investigations, both as an active investigator and as a consultant.
